FREMONT, Calif., Oct. 31, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Coolisys Technologies ("Coolisys"), a subsidiary of Digital Power Corporation (NYSE.AMERICAN:DPW) announced that it recently was awarded two customer renewal orders to supply the custom switching power solution it has developed for cloud based data centers and for powering converged cable TV edge router and gateway nodes that supports the continuing exponential demand for cloud based computing services. The solution for router and gateway nodes is intended to support the high demands of virtual converged cable access platform (CCAP) over broadband operator networks for high bandwidth data services, IP video streaming services and file uploads and downloads.

According to as of April 2017, the cloud-based computing solutions industry will grow from $67B in 2015 to reach over $162B in 2020, a CAGR of 19%. Cloud computing spending is growing at 4.5 times the rate of IT spending since 2009 and is expected to grow at better than 6 times the rate of IT spending from 2015 through 2020. Total spending on IT infrastructure products (servers, enterprise storage and Ethernet switches) for deployment in cloud environments will increase 15.3% year over year in 2017 to $41.7B. Coolisys received the renewing order for its advanced power solution designed to power data servers to be used in data centers of major cloud based computing service providers. The Company's DC/DC 1300-watt product features a very highly efficient power switch, a fully synchronous rectifier design and employs advanced digital signal processing (DSP) devices and firmware for real-time monitoring and performance control. The DSP communicates with a host processor to enable the system to monitor and control performance including timing, digital control loops and multiphase clocking using the industry standard SMBus. For router and gateway nodes, the Digital Power AC/DC pseudo-square wave product features an advanced synchronous rectifier AC/DC front-end to improve power efficiency and is fully DSP controlled.
