Nintendo's (NTDOY) Switch, the gaming companies "hybrid" console boasting both mobile and docking capabilities, continues to put up impressive sales figures.

The Switch was the top-selling current-generation console hardware in September, according to market research firm NPD, which tracks video game sales in the U.S. The accomplishment marks the third consecutive month the Switch has been the top-selling console, and the fifth time in the seven months since its launch.

Nintendo's Switch has already eclipsed two million units sold in the U.S., and with the holiday season on deck, those numbers could jump substantially.

Shares of Nintendo were climbing nearly 1% in late morning trading on Thursday.
