Shares of eBay (EBAY - Get Report) were falling over 5% in extended-hours trading on Wednesday after the online multinational e-commerce company reported mixed third-quarter financial results. 

For the quarter, the San Jose-based eBay reported adjusted earnings of 48 cents per share on revenue of$2.4 billion. Analysts polled by FactSet were projecting adjusted earnings of 48 cents per share on revenue of $2.37 billion. 

For the same period a year ago, eBay reported adjusted earnings of 45 cents per share on revenue of $2.2 billion. 

eBay expects fourth-quarter revenue between $2.58 billion and $2.62 billion, and adjusted earnings per share of between 57 cents and 59 cents. Analysts project fourth-quarter revenue of $2.58 billion and adjusted earnings of 60 cents per share. 

For its full-year, the company projects revenue between $9.53 billion and $9.57 billion and adjusted earnings per share in the range of between $1.99 and $2.01. Analysts project full-year revenue of $9.5 billion and adjusted earnings of $2.01 per share. 

Shares of eBay have spiked over 27% year-to-date.
