As Hurricane Irma takes aim at Florida and the Southeast U.S., official Twitter (TWTR) accounts for national weather services are your best bet for up-to-the-minute trustworthy information. Given the nature of a Category 5 storm anyone in Irma's path should take every precaution and evacuate if necessary.

In a bulletin, NOAA said, "On the forecast track, the extremely dangerous core of Irma will move over portions of the Virgin Islands very soon, pass near or just north of Puerto Rico this afternoon or tonight, pass near or just north of the coast of the Dominican Republic Thursday, and be near the Turks and Caicos and southeastern Bahamas late Thursday."

While TheStreet will be closely monitoring the storm, these outlets should be your go-to. Stay safe out there.
