American travel company Expedia (EXPE - Get Report) on Friday announced that its board had approved the appointment of Alan Pickerill as the company's new CFO, taking over for recently appointed CEO Mark Okerstrom.
Pickerill, who most recently served as Expedia's Senior VP, Treasurer, and Head of Investor Relations, has been on the company's financial leadership team for nearly a decade.
"During that time has established himself as a highly capable leader and financial thought partner to not only me but also our entire executive team," Okerstrom said. "Alan combines his broad functional expertise with a deep knowledge of Expedia and the well-earned respect of the broader investment and finance community at large. As we enter our next chapter of growth, there is no better person to stand by my side at the financial helm of Expedia."
The shakeup in management at Expedia comes after its former CEO Dara Khosrowshahi was named the CEO of ride-hailing company Uber Technologies. Okerstrom, its CFO since 2011, was appointed its new CEO and Executive VP of Operations on Wednesday.
Shares of Expedia were climbing over 1% during Friday morning trading.
