In a move resembling one made by Amazon.com (AMZN) in 2016, Walmart Stores (WMT) has applied to patent a blimp-like warehouse used for the delivery of products.

The patent covers a "gas-filled carrier aircraft and methods of dispersing unmanned aircraft systems in delivering products" and would deploy drones to deliver products.

The carrier would fly between 500 feet and 1,000 feet, controlled either autonomously or by a remote pilot. It would come with multiple launching pads for drones to deploy from.

Likewise, in 2016 Amazon filed for a similar patent covering a floating launch pad for drones to deliver items.

Shares of Walmart were sinking lower during Friday afternoon trading.
