After Twitter's (TWTR) brutal quarter, it wouldn't be shocking to see an activist investor knock on founder Jack Dorsey's door.

Nor is it surprising that noted activist Bill Ackman reportedly has started to build a stake in payroll processor Automatic Data Processing (ADP) -- shares have been a so-so performer over the past year relative to the broader market.
