21st Century Fox (FOX) expanded its footprint in gaming with the purchase of mobile gaming studio Aftershock for what sources told the Wall Street Journal was tens of millions of dollars.
Aftershock is currently working on a mobile game based on the movie Avatar.
Aftershock will be a part of FoxNext, the new unit Fox created in January to focus on videogames, virtual and augmented reality and location-based entertainment.
"We think the mobile space is interesting because you've seen businesses grow to supersize very quickly and there are not many segments of entertainment in which you can do that," said Fox head of television Peter Rice.
