There is a reason why the rich keep getting richer, according to financial author Robert Kiyosaki: a lack of financial education.

"People do need to get educated," he said, adding the lack of financial education in schools is tragic.

Kiyosaki is the author of the new book Why the Rich Are Getting Richer.

While the broad market indexes like the S&P 500 and Nasdaq are at record highs and stocks like Alphabet (GOOGL)  and Amazon (AMZN)  flirting with $1,000 a share, Kiyosaki said market crashes help the rich get richer.

"When the markets crashed in 2008, I borrowed $300 million," he said. "Debt makes the rich richer."
