Southern Co. Needs $3.7 Billion From Toshiba to Finish Nuclear Plant

Utility Southern Co.  (SO) said that it needs $3.7 billion and cooperation from Toshiba  (TOSYY) to finish the nuclear plant in Georgia that was being built by now defunct Toshiba subsidiary Westinghouse.

Even with those concessions the company said that it still may not be able to complete the half finished project.

The collapse of Toshiba's nuclear technology division threatens to sink the whole company. Toshiba said that it may not be able to continue as it has already had to accept billions in losses due to delays in the Georgia project.
