T-Mobile (TMUS) said today that it intends to roll out a fifth-generation network (5G) in the U.S. in 2019, Reuters reports.
The telecommunications firm added that it was targeting a nationwide 5G coverage offering by 2020.
T-Mobile said the launch of the 5G network was fueled by the U.S. Federal Communications Commission's spectrum auction last month.
The Bellevue, Wash., company captured the most spectrum in an auction of airwaves owned by local TV stations, paying $8 billion.
Shares of T-Mobile were lower over 1.5% during midday trading on Friday.
