Raytheon  (RTN - Get Report) shares were rising Thursday morning after the company reported a 3.4% increase in first quarter sales to $6 billion, topping analyst estimates of $5.93 billion. The company earned $1.73 per share vs. expectations of $1.61 per share. 

For the full year, the company raised its top- and bottom-line forecasts to between $24.9 billion and $25.4 billion, and between $7.25 per share and $7.40 per share. Analysts are expecting the company to report revenue of $25.09 billion on earnings of $7.40 per share. 

Over 40% of the company's backlog of $36 billion is for international clients, the company said.
