French regulators say that Sanofi's (SNY) epilepsy drug Valproate is responsible for birth defects in an estimated 2,150 to 4,100 children in France.
Regulators say that the defects were apparent in children whose mothers took the drug between 1967 and 2016.
Sanofi shares were up 1.4% to $44.94 Thursday morning.
