Share of seed provider Monsanto (MON) closed in the green on Wednesday, the company delivered better than expected 2017 second quarter earnings.
Monsanto posted earnings of $3.19 per share on revenue of $5.07 billion for the most recent quarter. Analysts had been expecting earnings of $2.79 per share on revenue of $4.73 billion for the second quarter.
"The company's performance was driven in part by strong gross profit growth from its corn and soybean businesses, the absence of the Argentine peso devaluation and benefit from the sale of its Latitude®wheat fungicide business," Monsanto said.
