Amazon.com  (AMZN - Get Report) invited multiple packaged food companies including General Mills (GIS - Get Report) and Mondelez (MDLZ - Get Report) to its Seattle headquarters in order to convince them to bypass traditional retailers like Target  (TGT - Get Report) and Walmart  (WMT - Get Report) and sell their goods through Amazon's channels.

The meeting is scheduled to happen over a three-day period in May, Bloomberg reported.
