The latest gadget from Japanese videogame company Nintendo (NTDOY) --the Nintendo Switch-- has been seeing strong sales since the device was released at the beginning of March. It's possible that the Switch will eclipse sales of 2006 Nintendo phenomenon the Wii.
"The Nintendo Switch is off to a start right now that it could possibly eclipse the Wii. Initial sales on this have been phenomenal. I can't give straight numbers, but I can say we're seeing one of the highest attach rates of software and accessories to a device that we've seen in a long time," GameStop (GME - Get Report) senior director of merchandising Eric Bright told gaming website GameRant.
However, the company still has some work to do in order to continue to up sales, GameRant noted. For example, in the UK only 32% of people that have heard of the Switch intend to purchase one. Should that prove to be the case worldwide the company could face a tough road in beating its own sales figures.
