It's March and we're seeing what could be the worst blizzard of the year, as Storm Stella slams the northwest.

That means there's a run on flashlights, salt and snow shovels. So you should be buying stocks like Home Depot (HD) and Lowe's (LOW) . Not necessarily! Especially not this time.

It's so late in the season, this blizzard is actually hurting sales like big ticket items including patio sets and you know this is bad for all the flowers they had out just the other day.

Just look at Home Depot's first quarter earnings report last year. The company said better weather conditions spurred $250 million of extra sales at the their U.S. stores.

But don't put all of your stock trades on ice.

If you are looking for a pure snow play, consider Toro (TTC)  the company that manufactures those famous snow blowers.

People who don't have Toros at home and have been jealous of their neighbors, might just be inspired by all this snow to finally pick up their own.

Toro's stock is up more than 8% year to date and yields just over 1% dividend.
