The initiative marks the first large-scale roll out of GE's "smart city" tools used to assist in motioning traffic and crime.
"This is a brand new market," Maryrose Sylvester, CEO of GE Current, said in an interview. A 2014 estimate by Frost & Sullivan estimated the market for cities could be valued at $1.5 trillion by 2020, she added.
