HILLSDALE, Mich., Dec. 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Hillsdale College today announced it has received its fifth consecutive NCAA Presidents' Award for Academic Excellence, which recognizes Division II schools with exemplary Academic Success Ratings (ASR). Hillsdale's 98-percent ASR puts it among the most academically successful institutions in Division II, and represents a 5-point improvement over its 2015 rating. "Student-athletes at Hillsdale are held to the same academic standards as every other student on campus. The curriculum here is demanding, but the student-athletes rise to the challenge and master it," said David Whalen, provost at Hillsdale College. "The outstanding students and coaching staff deserve a great deal of credit for this achievement. We are enormously delighted at what they've accomplished for the fifth year in a row, both in the classroom and on the fields and courts, and what they will continue to accomplish." The ASR is the percentage of student-athletes who graduate within six years of initial enrollment and includes virtually all Division II student-athletes, including transfers and those not receiving athletic scholarships. An ASR of 90 or higher earns an institution the NCAA Presidents' Award, and only 26 out of 300 Division II colleges and universities received the honor in 2016. This year's ASR list can be viewed here. More information about Hillsdale College and its academic and athletic achievements is available at www.hillsdale.edu and www.hillsdalechargers.com.
