Walmart (WMT) quietly opened its doors at 7:00 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day, giving those shopping for last-minute food for their dinner table an early peak into some killer toys for children.
Although the door-buster deals weren't available until the evening, Walmart's efforts to add more wow type toys -- such as a Spiderman electric scooter and giant plastic dump trucks -- was pretty evident (see video below) underneath displays wrapped tightly with plastic covering. Walmart's better focus this year on toys with wow factor, as well as its usual low prices on things such as Barbie dolls and board games, could give it a leg up on rivals like Target (TGT) and Toys R' Us when the holiday season is all said and done.
In total, Walmart will have 400 new and exclusive toys available this holiday shopping season, about in line to last year's offerings. The list of toy exclusives is headlined by a pricey $398 Disney (DIS) battery-powered car for children to ride in.
Walmart turns into a car dealership for children.
We'll take the truck.
Fly around like Spiderman...on an electric motorcycle.
We wish Harley-Davidson made some of these for kids.
What young boy wouldn't want this extra-large remote-control truck?
Supplies won't last on this thing, trust us.
Another extra large toy, except this one flies.
So much for paper airplanes.
Tonka trucks reportedly can catch fire, but not these ginormous simple plastic ones at Walmart.
We still love Tonka trucks.
