Purolator to move approximately one million packages on each peak-volume day: Nov. 28 and Dec. 12TORONTO, Nov. 24, 2016 /CNW/ - With the continuing growth of online shopping during the holiday season, Purolator anticipates a surge in shipping volume on Cyber Monday ( Nov. 28). For the fourth straight year, the company will handle increased volume earlier in the holiday season due to the rising popularity of Cyber Monday shopping in Canada. The end of November is just the beginning of the busy holiday delivery season. Along with the expected volume spikes on Nov. 28 and Dec. 12, which falls within the company's traditional mid-December peak period, Purolator expects to handle a steadier level of deliveries throughout the entire holiday season. "While Cyber Monday and mid-December continue to be important holiday shipping milestones, the steady flow of shipments during the season indicates that Canadian businesses and consumers are more savvy about how and when to make their holiday purchases," said Paul Merrick, Vice President of Field Operations at Purolator. "Last-minute shopping will undoubtedly remain, but we are seeing more and more businesses and consumers changing their holiday shipment patterns by planning and making purchases earlier than before." Purolator anticipates it will move approximately 17 million packages across Canada, into the United States and around the world during this year's holiday season.
