If you're joining the mob lined up outside J.C. Penney (JCP) before its extra early 3 p.m. Thanksgiving Day opening, there's a few things you should know.

To repeat last year's stunning holiday sales, J.C. Penney's executives are pumping up their game this year to ensure the store maintains its status as a holiday heavyweight.

1. The checkout line will be shorter (hopefully).

In response to last year's cringe-worthy check-out process, J.C. Penney replaced 7,000 of 26,000 company-wide registers and upgraded the rest. So you can get the most from coupons on the J.C. Penney app, the company also added 18,000 new scanning guns.

2. You'll be able to find your size.

J.C. Penney increased its inventory of big and tall sizes, and all 1,000 stores nationwide will offer customers the opportunity to buy something online and pick it up in-store within four hours.

3. Appliances will be available in select stores.

J.C. Penney will once again offer washers, dryers, dishwashers and refrigerators in over 500 stores. One washing machine will sell for a competitive $293.
