ANN ARBOR, Mich., Nov. 22, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Feller Shades, a new, local, wooden eyewear brand, is launching their first line of handmade wood sunglasses with a Kickstarter campaign in November. Brothers and long-time Ann Arbor area residents, Zac and Mac Kish, started Feller Shades in 2016. A passion for handcrafted goods, and a love for the outdoors inspired the Kish brothers to start the company. They will be offering sunglasses handmade from domestic and exotic hardwoods, as well as some repurposed materials. The company's mission is to plant a tree for every pair of glasses sold. Their new collection will be available online starting in March 2017. "We want to pay homage to the beautiful forests we're blessed with here in the States," Zac says. "They are an invaluable resource for industry and recreation. Visitors to our National Forests contribute over $13 billion every year to America's economy. Our forests are threatened and need our help. So for every pair of sunglasses we sell, a tree will be planted in our National Forests." Feller Shades has promised to donate a portion of the profits from every pair sold to plant trees through the National Forest Foundation. The NFF ensures that all trees are professionally planted, native and locally sourced, and cared for by the U.S. Forest Service. "We appreciate the opportunity to give back to the planet that helps us to do what we do," says Mac. The brothers launched a Kickstarter campaign this month with the goal of funding the production costs for the first line of sunglasses. With the holidays upon us, the Feller Shades Kickstarter is just in time to make the perfect gift that also gives back.
