MINNEAPOLIS, Nov. 21, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- In a move that greatly enhances its position as a full-spectrum provider of fantasy sports products and services, SportsHub Technologies, LLC ("SportsHub") announced today that it has acquired LeagueSafe, LLC ("LeagueSafe"), a Minnesota-based company that offers fantasy players the most trusted online payment solution for collecting and protecting fantasy dues. The move strengthens SportsHub's product portfolio, bolsters the company's content and development teams, and reunites Fantasy Sports Hall of Fame members Paul Charchian and Rob Phythian who in 1993 co-founded Fanball, one of the first fantasy sports companies. "LeagueSafe provides fantasy players with the convenience and safety of paying fantasy dues online, with the security of knowing their entry fees will be paid out," said Rob Phythian, Founder and CEO, SportsHub. The product has been used by over a half million customers, and is the only consumer protection product in the fantasy sports industry. "With over 57 million people playing fantasy sports in North America, we have an enormous opportunity to capitalize on the established technology that LeagueSafe has created and roll out more sophisticated payment technology for both the season long and daily fantasy sports industries." The acquisition of LeagueSafe marks the fourth that SportsHub has recently completed and continues their long-term strategy of acquiring leading fantasy sports businesses as it develops a platform designed to level the playing field for daily fantasy sports fans. This deal comes on the heels of the acquisition of the National Fantasy Championships high-stakes games from STATS LLC; Sports Technologies, a custom fantasy sports application developer for leading brands in sports and media; and CDM Sports, one of the most trusted brands in season-long, pay-to-play fantasy sports.
