Comcast today announced that Zocalo Community Development, Inc. and Principal Real Estate Investors' Coda in Cherry Creek property will be the first in Colorado to deliver gigabit speeds to residents through Xfinity's Advanced Communities Network (ACN). Xfinity Communities, a unit of Comcast Cable, provides fiber-based network solutions to multifamily housing properties and developments. Zocalo has been committed to innovation in the multifamily industry since its founding in 2001, boasting a number of Denver-area firsts in the multifamily industry, including in-building bicycle maintenance shops and electric vehicle charging stations. The company is continuing its tradition of breaking ground by partnering with Xfinity Communities to provide gigabit speeds as an amenity service to residents at its new, 182-unit Coda Cherry Creek property through a seven-year bulk agreement. "This investment in network infrastructure at the Coda property is a notable differentiator for us in the Denver area," said Susan Maxwell, principal and COO, Zocalo Community Development. "Our building is registered for LEED Gold certification, making it one of the smarter and more sophisticated properties in the region. With Xfinity Communities enabling us to offer gigabit speeds to residents as an additional amenity included in their monthly rent, we are providing the infrastructure needed to support smart home and environmental technology, which are two very important priorities in Colorado." Xfinity's Advanced Communities Network is providing high-speed internet through a fiber-to-the-unit deployment. In addition to internet services, residents will have access to Xfinity TV, Xfinity Voice, Xfinity WiFi, and the next-generation entertainment capabilities of the X1 platform. Xfinity WiFi will also be provided in common areas, where Zocalo made a significant investment in entertainment systems. "Over the past year, Xfinity Communities laid the groundwork to support gigabit speeds across the country, and with properties such as Coda coming online, our vision is being realized," said David Tashjian, Comcast Mountain West Region Vice President, Sales and Marketing. "Today's multifamily properties expect a high level of technology services and increasingly see internet speed as a competitive advantage. Through our work, we are helping building owners and property managers satisfy the needs of residents."
