CALGARY, Nov. 14, 2016 /CNW/ - Alberta entrepreneurs looking to rapidly grow their start-up and early stage businesses now have the support to do exactly that with a unique accelerator program launched this month by ATB Financial. ATB X is a program that offers entrepreneurs mentorship, strategy sessions and opportunities to grow their networks in a collaborative workspace. ATB X's 12-week curriculum features instruction from influential, local entrepreneurs and thought leaders. Topics include:
Business model validation
How to pitch an idea
Solidifying partners, establishing products and finding customers
Distribution planning and logistics
"ATB X is further proof of our commitment to make ATB the bank for entrepreneurs in Alberta," said Teresa Clouston, ATB's Executive Vice-President, Business & Agriculture. "This is ground-breaking, for a Canadian financial institution to create an in-house accelerator program like this. We're excited to follow and participate in the journey of our province's up and coming entrepreneurs." The first cohort of entrepreneurs has already begun in Calgary with 45 participants representing 20 local businesses. Participants are expected to commit 30 to 50 hours a week in the program. Entrepreneurs from any industry are welcome. "ATB X is the perfect opportunity for our team to focus and create a game plan," said Naomi Pereira, co-founder of Calgary start-up Job Jar. "We had an overall vision and long-term business plan, but by being around like-minded entrepreneurs and staying accountable to our goals, we have a very detailed execution plan for the next few months. We can grow faster in short period of time alongside like-minded people."
