HILVERSUM, The Netherlands, November 8, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Warpcache's Origin Shield for Multi-CDN Networks Closes the gap Between Multi-CDN and Mono-CDN Feature Offerings Dutch company Warpcache announced its new Warpshield feature, surpassing other multi-CDN providers to offer a set of features nearly on par with those mono-CDN providers can offer-but with all of the speed and reliability enhancements of a platform based on multiple CDNs. The purpose of a content-delivery network (CDN) is to make content delivery faster by caching content locally around the world, keeping increasingly less patient users satisfied and engaged. Multi-CDN platforms take this a step further, optimizing content delivery across multiple CDNs to ensure that it is always available to local users anywhere at the highest speeds possible. One of the few weaknesses of multi-CDN platforms has been that they have not, to date, been able to also offer all of the features that have been incorporated into the most feature-rich mono-CDN systems. Warpcache is changing that with Warpshield. Warpshield protects the origin of your content, preventing it from becoming overloaded and reducing network egress (upload) costs. A CDN typically connects to a content origin through Point of Presence (PoP) edge servers scattered around the world. When the PoPs request the content directly from the origin, the origin can be overwhelmed by a sudden surge in simultaneous requests from these scattered PoPs-which can, for example, happen when files cached in the PoPs are purged or expire and need to be requested anew. This problem is compounded in multi-CDN systems. Warpcache's origin shield places a caching layer between the server(s) on which the content is stored and these PoPs to protect your origin. Warpshield is the first such tool for multi-CDN platforms. With its launch, the extra features available in a multi-CDN nearly match the simpler mono-CDN providers, already surpassing the offerings of some mono-CDNs.
