UFC 205 Could Be Most Expensive UFC Event Ever

Hoping to be on hand at UFC 205 in New York City this Saturday?

To be in attendance at UFC 205 in New York City, prepare to pay record-setting prices on the secondary ticket market.

Conor McGregor and Eddie Alvarez are highlighting this weekend's first-ever UFC event in the Big Apple at Madison Square Garden. The bouts are on pace to be the most expensive UFC event held this decade. Demand has held strong since tickets went on sale to the general public on Sept. 30, and that is likely to remain so until doors open Saturday evening.

On TicketIQ, the ticket event search engine that pools tickets and data from more than 90% of the secondary market, UFC 205 tickets in New York City are now averaging $2,093.22. That is easily the top-priced event since 2010, when TicketIQ began tracking resale ticket data.

The event is nearly doubling the average resale price of UFC 137 between B.J. Penn and Nate Diaz, which served as the second priciest UFC event of the last seven years. Along with UFC 137, just two other events had an average price of above $1,000. Those events were UFC 200 and UFC 175, both held in Las Vegas.

For those looking for the cheapest prices, tickets currently start from $770 each in Section 417. Conversely, the most expensive tickets are floor-level seats in Section 2F for a breath-taking $29,290 each.

In Saturday's main event, Eddie Alvarez will battle Conor McGregor for the UFC Lightweight Championship. It will be the first time Alvarez defends his title after defeating Rafael dos Anjos by TKO at UFC Fight Night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in July. The controversial, outspoken McGregor enters the octagon following his win over Nate Diaz at UFC 202 in August.
