LOS ANGELES, Nov. 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- CatCon ®, the conference and symposium where cat culture and pop culture converge, will debut a new location - the Pasadena Convention Center - on Saturday, August 12th, and Sunday, August 13th, 2017. Expect new and returning talent, activations, and seminars, such as Men and Cats: A Love Story, They Put the Special in Special Needs, and the first ever CatCon® Awards.
CatCon® brings the internet obsession with all things feline to life over one cattastic weekend. Through community and curated experiences, unique activations, adoptions, retail opportunities and entertainment, CatCon® is designed to excite and engage those with a great love of the feline, while at the same time, debunking the outdated perception of the cat lady. 2017 proves to be an even bigger CAT-stravaganza with this larger venue. In 2016, spcaLA partnered with Presenting Sponsors Hill's Science Diet and Petco in a 3,000 square foot adoption lounge - a remarkable 99 cats and kittens were adopted during the 2 day event. "We hope with this new location, we'll get even more kitties adopted in 2017," said creator Susan Michals. On the talent front, Michals added, "It's going to be bigger, better, and BUBBIER!" She is of course referring to perma-kitten cutie Lil BUB, who has participated in the last two years of CatCon® with her iconic event, Lil BUB's Big Show. Attendees can expect additional cat-tastic talent like Nala Cat, with brother White Coffee Cat and new sis, Luna, as well as Oskar the Blind Cat. Human talent includes Cats of Instagram, DJsReid Speed and Splurt (who owns NYC's biggest cat, Samson, aka Catstradamus), Hannah Shaw, aka " Kitten Lady" and "Batman" icon Julie Newmar. More talent to be announced. ABOUT CatCon® CatCon® is the biggest cat-centric convention in the world. The first iteration debuted in 2015, attracting over 12,000 cat lovers from across the globe. The median age attending is 18-34, skewing 70% female. In the past two years, CatCon® has donated nearly $70,000 to organizations including FixNation, Lil BUB's Big Fund and Kitten Rescue. Parent company Ticket Out also runs Cat Art Show®, an exhibition series that has showcased some of the biggest names in the art world, including Shepard Fairey, Tracey Emin, Norman Reedus and Mark Ryden.
