KENOSHA, Wis., Nov. 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The Jockey Being Family Foundation, Ltd. (Jockey Being Family) and pro football player and Jockey Being Family® ambassador, Jordy Nelson, are seeking the public's help in drawing attention to National Adoption Awareness Month (November) by asking the community to help them line a football field, goal line to goal line, with Jockey Being Family® teddy bears.
Jockey Being Family is Jockey International, Inc.'s corporate initiative, which supports organizations that provide vital post-adoption services to help strengthen adoptive families once an adoption is finalized. Jockey Being Family knows the importance of giving a child their own belongings when they join their new family. Jockey Being Family's signature Backpack Program provides newly adopted children with their own personal backpacks, customized with their new family name's initials and filled with a Jockey Being Family® blanket and teddy bear. To raise funds to support its Backpack Program, Jockey Being Family sells its teddy bears for $10. In November, 100 percent of the bear sales go to Jockey Being Family. 1 "Join me and purchase a bear to support adoptive families," said Nelson. "I want to see pictures of people with their teddy bear purchases. Share them with me on social media with the hashtag #JoinJordy and I'll share some of my favorites with you. Let's help these 'bears' get into the end zone." Nelson, and his wife, Emily, recently grew their family through an adoption and are the proud parents of two boys. "Every child deserves a family they can call their own," said Linnea Schramm, executive director of Jockey Being Family. "Adoption is not an event, it is a lifelong journey. Families need just as much support post-adoption as they do pre-adoption. One in ten adoptions fail sending children back into the foster care system, and one failed adoption is one too many." 2 #JoinJordy and purchase a bear at Jockey.com/Bear and track progress of the bears' march down the field on JockeyBeingFamily.com
