SAN ANTONIO, Nov. 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Visionworks and Davis Vision are participating in the American Diabetes Association's (Association) Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes for the second year. On Saturday, November 5, 2016 the eyewear retailer and managed vision care provider will continue their support of the Association's walks by enlisting associates to promote the importance of healthy vision for people living with diabetes at their station located at Philadelphia Museum of Art, 2600 Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Additionally, walk participants can pick up informational materials and special promotional coupons at Visionworks Healthy Vision Station.
"Last year, we had several teams participating across the country to raise money and awareness for diabetes in their local communities. This year, we're taking it a step further and encouraging our employees and their families, company vendors, friends, and neighbors to join the cause and support our teams in their fundraising efforts in Philadelphia," said Jim Eisen, president and CEO of HVHC Inc., and president of Visionworks. "We like that Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes is a fun, healthy event that brings co-workers and their families together outside of work to help the American Diabetes Association stop diabetes and it's a cause our team is passionate about." Visionworks and Davis Vision's goals are to educate and encourage both children and adults to get annual eye exams in an effort to protect their eyes and overall health. According to the American Diabetes Association, the leading cause of blindness in working-age American adults is diabetes. However, most people do not realize that a yearly eye exam is a critical component to regular diabetes care.
