SMTC Warns, Plunges

Electronics manufacturer SMTC ( SMTX) gave back 26.4% in late morning.

Earlier it had said that it expects to report a first-quarter loss between 8 cents and 10 cents a share, compared to analysts' expectations of a 5 cent profit.

The company blamed cancelled contracts on the economic slowdown.
