The audio description feature was launched during the special gala of the Turkish film "Hayat Opucugu - Kiss of Life". The service, which complements visually impaired movie-goers' experience through detailed description of non-dialogue scenes, will be available in all Turkish movie-theaters.

Turkcell worked with the Young Guru Academy (YGA) and Turkey's "Audio Description Association" SEBEDER to develop the product.

"We constantly look for ways in which technology can improve the lives of our customers with disabilities - and in that process, we always get a first-hand perspective on what their needs are. We realized that being able to go to the movies with their loved ones and having a full experience of the movie mattered to our visually-impaired customers. Working with the Young Guru Academy, we managed to incorporate the audio description feature into our "Dream Partner" service in 6 months." said Burak Sevilengul, Chief Marketing Officer of Turkcell. "We now call on all producers to make the best use of this technology to make sure that everyone in a movie theater can enjoy watching movies to a fuller extent."

Audio description works in Turkcell's "My Dream Partner" mobile application. Movie-goers can choose the "cinema" category, select the movie and start listening to the sychronized audio description with their earphones. The product was tested by Turkcell's and Young Guru Academy's visually-impaired employees. The feature is available free-of-charge and open to customers of all operators who subscribe to My Dream Partner.

"My Dream Partner", a free service for the visually-impaired, provides access to current news, more than 70 columnists' daily columns, hundreds of thousands of audio-books, training programs and practical information including weather and exchange rates. In the Global Mobile Awards 2014, the service was chosen as the "Best Mobile Service for Accessibility or Ease-of-use" in the category of "Social and Economic Development" by the GSMA.
