Get ready for a load of financial reports from large companies ranging from aerospace to technology.
Wednesday's earnings begin before the bell with Coca-Cola (KO - Get Report) , Boeing (BA - Get Report) and EMC (EMC) , General Motors (GM - Get Report) , Kimberly Clark (KMB - Get Report) , Biogen (BIIB - Get Report) and Credit Suisse (CS - Get Report) . After the market close American Express (AXP - Get Report) , Kinder Morgan (KMI - Get Report) , Las Vegas Sands (LVS - Get Report) and eBay (EBAY - Get Report) are among those reporting.
Analysts expect Coca-Cola third-quarter earnings of 50 cents a share on revenue of about over $11.5 billion. Both the company's top and bottom lines are expected to drop compared to the same period the year before.
Investors will be curious about how the company has been dealing with slowing soda sale sand what their cost cutting plans are. Ben Stoto, research director for CNBC's "Mad Money," said the "big number is going to be the organic sales growth. This is stripping out all of the foreign exchange fluctuations because they are a global company, so investors aren't going to hurt them for wild changes in exchange rates. But, they do want to see them growing at a steady mid-single digit clip.
"In the first quarter, it was 8%, which was especially strong, and in the second quarter it fell to 4%, but that's still a steady number. If it falls below that, it will be a concern down to the low single digits."
On the economic calendar are the MBA mortgage applications at 7 a.m. ET and weekly oil inventory data. Then, at 1:30 p.m. ET, Federal Reserve Governor Jerome Powell speaks in New York.
