NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- JA Solar Holdings (JASO) shares are jumping 5.87% to $8.30 in pre-market trading on Tuesday after the company reported strong fiscal 2015 second quarter earnings results that beat analysts' estimates.
For the quarter ended June 30, the company posted earnings of 27 cents per share on revenue of $436.8 million.
Analysts had forecast the company to post earnings of 12 cents per share on revenue of $398.65 million.
In the same period the previous year, the company posted earnings of 14 cents per share on revenue of $390.5 million.
Based in Shanghai, China, JA Solar is a manufacturer of high-performance solar power products.
Year-over-year growth in revenue was due to strong shipments to key markets like China, the company noted.
"As we continue into the second half of the year, we expect industry demand to remain relatively strong, especially in China," CEO Mr. Baofang Jin stated. "We are focused on capturing greater market share in emerging markets, particularly in India and the Americas."
Going forward, the company expects third quarter total cell and module shipments to be in the range of 900 megawatts to 950 megawatts.
Separately, TheStreet Ratings team rates JA SOLAR HOLDINGS CO LTD as a Hold with a ratings score of C. TheStreet Ratings Team has this to say about their recommendation:
"We rate JA SOLAR HOLDINGS CO LTD (JASO) a HOLD. The primary factors that have impacted our rating are mixed, some indicating strength, some showing weaknesses, with little evidence to justify the expectation of either a positive or negative performance for this stock relative to most other stocks. The company's strengths can be seen in multiple areas, such as its revenue growth, attractive valuation levels and largely solid financial position with reasonable debt levels by most measures. However, as a counter to these strengths, we also find weaknesses including unimpressive growth in net income, poor profit margins and a generally disappointing performance in the stock itself."
