"Congratulations to those students whose hard work in their studies and contributions to their communities merited recognition through the Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Award," said Florida Education Commissioner Pam Stewart. "These are the future leaders, innovators and caretakers of our state. I wish each recipient success as they continue their education and pursue their dreams."

This year, Comcast is awarding 172 scholarships worth $184,000 to high school seniors around Florida. Among the recipients are several students from the Tallahassee area who met with local Comcast leaders and Commissioner Stewart today to be recognized for their accomplishments.

The Comcast Leaders and Achievers® Scholarship Program provides $1,000 scholarships to students who strive to achieve their potential, who are catalysts for positive change in their communities, who are involved in their schools, and who serve as models for their fellow students. The philosophy behind the program is to give young people every opportunity to prepare for the future and to engage them in their communities. The program also demonstrates the importance of civic involvement, and the value placed on civic involvement by the business community.

To date, Comcast has awarded more than $22.8 million to nearly 23,000 Leaders and Achievers Scholarship winners.
