Apollo Nearing $3.3B Deal for Bottle Maker Verallia

NEW YORK ( TheDeal) -- Apollo Global Management is in exclusive talks to buy glass container maker Verallia from France's Cie. de Saint-Gobain after winning an auction of the unit with a €2.95 billion ($3.3 billion) bid.

Courbevoie, France-based Saint-Gobain said June 8, it hoped to complete the sale before the end of the year, realizing a long- held aim to offload the bottle maker and concentrate its energies on building materials. The deal comes more than two years after it agreed to sell Verallia's North American unit to Ardagh Group SA for $1.69 billion.
