NEW YORK ( TheStreet) -- Ambarella ( AMBA) reported first-quarter fiscal 2016 earnings after the closing bell Tuesday. 

Earnings a share came in at $0.71, beating the $0.59 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters were seeking. The company earned $0.25 during the same quarter last year. As for sales, Ambarella reported revenue of $71 million, ahead of the consensus estimate of $67.4 million and significantly ahead of last year's $41 million.
