Facebook's News Offering Is Nothing the Media Need to Fear

NEW YORK ( TheStreet) -- News publishers have much bigger worries than Facebook ( FB).

When reports emerged this week that Facebook will directly host stories from nine major news organizations, including New York Times ( NYT) and Comcast's ( CMCSA) NBC News, some loud opposition erupted in media circles.

But a dispassionate analysis of the arrangement produces a different conclusion: the critics doth protest too much. As hard as it may be to side with the Internet's behemoth, it's actually a good deal for news organizations, not to mention Facebook and news readers.
