StarMedia Drops 10.9% as Loss Widens

StarMedia ( STRM) was down 10.9% in preopen Island trading. After Wednesday's close, the company posted a loss of 49 cents per share, missing the First Call/Thomson Financial estimate of 48 cents and the worse than the year-earlier 44 cents.

The Internet media company, which targets Spanish and Portuguese speakers, said it is comfortable with its estimates for 2001.
