Shareholder Rights Law Firm Johnson & Weaver, LLP is investigating whether certain officers and directors of MasTec, Inc. (NYSE: MTZ) breached their fiduciary duties to the Company and its shareholders in connection with issuing false and misleading statements regarding MasTec's public financial statements. Recently, on May 7, 2015, a class action lawsuit alleging violations of the federal securities laws was announced and has been filed against MasTec as a result of these potentially false and misleading statements.

The class action complaint alleges that throughout the Class Period, defendants made materially false and misleading statements regarding the Company's financial performance. Specifically, defendants made false and/or misleading statements and/or failed to disclose that: (1) certain cost to complete estimates, currently believed to be in the range of zero to $13 million, which were recognized during the company's third quarter of 2014, should have been recognized during the second quarter of 2014; (2) MasTec's internal control over financial reporting was ineffective; and (3) as a result of the foregoing, MasTec's public statements were materially false and misleading at all relevant times.

Then, on May 11, 2015, MasTec announced preliminary first quarter 2015 financial results. The company reported ($0.08) earnings per share for the quarter, missing the analysts' consensus estimate of $0.18.

If you are a shareholder that lost a significant amount of money on your investment in MasTec, or if you are a long term investor that continues to hold shares and feel that certain officers and directors should be held liable, you have options available to you.
