Arrow Electronics, Inc. (NYSE: ARW) today announced that it will showcase the latest sensor-based technology solutions and Arrow's semi-autonomous motorcar (SAM) at the upcoming Sensors Expo 2015—the largest U.S. conference and technology exhibition dedicated exclusively to sensors and sensor-integrated technology.

"The explosive growth of connected devices is driving exciting advancements in sensor technology, as well as new service offerings and business opportunities. Arrow and its suppliers look forward to showcasing many of these cutting-edge solutions at the Expo in June," said Aiden Mitchell, vice president of semiconductor marketing for Arrow. "Our best-in-class technical experts and field application engineers will be on hand at the Arrow booth to meet with Expo attendees interested in developing, deploying or scaling their sensing solutions."

In addition to its large showcase of sensor-based products and components, Arrow will display the 2014 Corvette C7 Stingray semi-autonomous car that it modified for former IndyCar driver and quadriplegic Sam Schmidt. Schmidt is able to drive the SAM car with his head—infrared cameras mounted on the car's dashboard track sensors on his hat and steer the car according to where he turns his head. He uses a sip-and-puff mouth device fitted with a pressure sensor to accelerate and brake.

The Sensors Expo focuses on current sensing challenges while also exploring the sensing technologies driving tomorrow's solutions, including the Internet of Things (IoT) and Machine to Machine (M2M). The Expo will be held June 9-11 at the Long Beach Convention Center in Long Beach, Calif.
