CyrusOne's Latest Acquisition Enhances Its Appeal as Takeover Target

NEW YORK (The Deal) -- As CyrusOne (CONE) expands its geographic footprint with the purchase of Cervalis Holdings, the data-center operator's lure as a potential takeover target only grows, according to industry watchers.

Carrollton, Texas-based CyrusOne announced on Tuesday that it has agreed to buy Cervalis of Norwalk, Conn., for about $400 million in cash. The acquisition will give CyrusOne four data centers and two work-area recovery facilities serving the New York City area.

Officials with CyrusOne, QTS and Level 3 did not respond to requests for comment, and those with Zayo declined to comment.
