NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Kelly Services  (KELYB) has been upgraded by TheStreet Ratings from Hold to Buy with a ratings score of B-.  TheStreet Ratings Team has this to say about their recommendation:

"We rate KELLY SERVICES INC (KELYB) a BUY. This is driven by multiple strengths, which we believe should have a greater impact than any weaknesses, and should give investors a better performance opportunity than most stocks we cover. The company's strengths can be seen in multiple areas, such as its revenue growth, largely solid financial position with reasonable debt levels by most measures and attractive valuation levels. We feel these strengths outweigh the fact that the company has had sub par growth in net income."

Highlights from the analysis by TheStreet Ratings Team goes as follows:

  • KELYB's revenue growth has slightly outpaced the industry average of 4.4%. Since the same quarter one year prior, revenues slightly increased by 2.8%. This growth in revenue does not appear to have trickled down to the company's bottom line, displayed by a decline in earnings per share.
  • KELYB's debt-to-equity ratio is very low at 0.11 and is currently below that of the industry average, implying that there has been very successful management of debt levels. Along with the favorable debt-to-equity ratio, the company maintains an adequate quick ratio of 1.40, which illustrates the ability to avoid short-term cash problems.
  • KELLY SERVICES INC' earnings per share from the most recent quarter came in slightly below the year earlier quarter. The company has suffered a declining pattern of earnings per share over the past year. However, we anticipate this trend reversing over the coming year. During the past fiscal year, KELLY SERVICES INC reported lower earnings of $0.61 versus $1.54 in the prior year. This year, the market expects an improvement in earnings ($0.95 versus $0.61).
  • The company, on the basis of change in net income from the same quarter one year ago, has underperformed when compared to that of the S&P 500 and the Professional Services industry average. The net income has decreased by 1.2% when compared to the same quarter one year ago, dropping from $17.20 million to $17.00 million.
