USMD Holdings, Inc. ( NASDAQ: USMD), a physician-led integrated healthcare system, announced today that Michelle Speck has been appointed senior vice president of human resources. In her position, Speck will oversee and manage USMD's human resources team and provide overall direction and strategic planning for all aspects of USMD's human resource functions, including physician and employee recruitment and retention, compensation and benefits, physician and employee relations, training, management development and organizational culture development. "With more than 20 years of experience working in human resources, strategic planning and business development, Michelle brings tremendous knowledge, experience and leadership skills to USMD." Prior to joining USMD, Speck served as regional vice president of human resources at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Health System, a world-renowned health care provider and insurer, based in Pittsburgh, Pa., that operates more than 20 academic, community and specialty hospitals and 400 outpatients sites. During her time at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Health System, Speck was responsible for the strategic and day-to-day human resource operations of two healthcare institutions and all related physician entities. Her previous positions also include tenures as vice president of human resources and ancillary services at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Altoona and Bedford Memorial, vice president of human resources and strategic planning at Thomas Holding Company and vice president of marketing and business development at Ward Trucking. In addition, she has served as adjunct professor at Mount Aloysius College. "I am thrilled to join USMD as senior vice president of human resources," said Speck.
