Will Vodafone (VOD) Stock be Helped Today by Canadian Finance Deal for Blackberry?

NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Shares of Vodafone (VOD) are up 1.08% to $33.36 in pre-market trade after it was reported that the British mobile phone operator will receive C$850 million ($726 million) in Canadian trade financing to help it buy enterprise services from BlackBerry (BBRY) , Ottawa said today, Reuters reports.

Export Development Canada (EDC) said that C$750 million would go to BlackBerry, while the remaining C$100 million was for future procurement from Canadian suppliers, Reuters said.

"Vodafone's global presence makes it a company that Canada's telecom sector has to have a relationship with," EDC Senior Vice-President Carl Burlock said in a statement.


Shares of Blackberry are slightly higher at $9.45 in pre-market trade.
