The 12 Absolutely Cheapest Places to Buy a House in America

NEW YORK (TheStreet) - Looking for a cheap place to buy a house? There's always Buffalo, one of the markets with the cheapest homes in the U.S., but there's a catch -- you could be buried under eight feet of snow. 

You should consider it, since Buffalo clocks in at No. 6 on this list of the most affordable places to buy a home in America, according to Coldwell Banker's annual Home Listing Report. The report analyzed data for more than 1,900 real estate markets nationwide, specifically taking a look at listing prices for more than 51,000 similar-sized four-bedroom, two-bathroom homes.

12. Parma/Parma Heights, Ohio

Parma, Ohio is a mere 10 miles from Cleveland, which happens to be Coldwell Banker's most affordable area to buy a home. The average price for a four-bedroom, two-bathroom home in Parma is $110,103.


11. Zion, Ill.

Roughly 130 miles to the Wisconsin border, Zion, Ill., sits on Lake Michigan to the north of Chicago. The average price for a four-bedroom, two-bathroom home in Zion is $107,276.

10. Utica, N.Y.

Utica, N.Y., is approximately 55 miles to the east of Syracuse, N.Y. The average price for a four-bedroom, two-bathroom home in Utica is $107,211.



9. Cheektowaga, N.Y.

A suburb of Buffalo, Cheektowaga, N.Y., sits just 10 miles northeast of the snowy city. The average price for a four-bedroom, two-bathroom home in Cheektowaga is $101,475.

8. Augusta, Ga.

Augusta, Ga. is 145 miles to the east of Atlanta. The average price for a four-bedroom, two-bathroom home in Augusta is $98,233.



7. Waukegan, Ill.

Waukegan, Ill., is located roughly 40 miles to the north of Chicago, also sitting on Lake Michigan. The average price for a four-bedroom, two-bathroom home in Waukegan is $98,226.


6. Buffalo, N.Y.

The average price for a four-bedroom, two-bathroom home in Buffalo is $97,288.



5. Lithonia, Ga.

Lithonia, Ga. is 19 miles to the east of Atlanta. The average price for a four-bedroom, two-bathroom home in Augusta is $94,076.

4. Lake Wales, Fla.

Lake Wales, Fla., is located 54 miles south of Orlando. The average price for a four-bedroom, two bathroom home in Lake Wales is $82,330.

3. Park Forest, Ill.

Park Forest, Ill., is located 35 miles south of Chicago. The average price for a four-bedroom, two bathroom home in Park Forest is $75,647.


2. Riverdale, Ga.

Riverdale, Ga., is a suburb of Atlanta, located just 13 miles outside the city. The average price for a four-bedroom, two bathroom home in Riverdale is $68,207.



1. Cleveland, Ohio

And the most affordable area on Coldwell Banker's list is Cleveland. The average price for a four-bedroom, two bathroom home in Cleveland is $64,993.
