American Airlines (AAL) Stock Gains Today After Reporting Increased October Traffic

NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- American Airlines (AAL) shares are up 1% to $43.63 in trading on Monday after the airline reported a rise in October traffic today.

The airline said that overall passenger traffic rose 0.2% in October despite a 3.7% drop in international traffic. Domestic traffic during the month rose 1.3% to over the same month the previous year.

The increase in passenger traffic was predicated on a 0.5% increase in capacity while its fourth quarter passenger revenue per available seat mile (PRASM) is projected to meet the company's expectations of 2% growth.
