Santander Consumer USA (SC) Stock Down After Earnings Miss

NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Shares of Santander Consumer USA (SC) were falling 8% to $17.10 Tuesday after the mortgage investment company missed analysts' estimates for earnings in the third quarter.

The company reported earnings of 54 cents a share for the third quarter, missing the Capital IQ Consensus Estimate of 60 cents a share by 6 cents. Revenue grew 35.8% year over year to $1.44 billion for the quarter, compared to analysts' estimates of $1.39 billion for the quarter.

Total origination grew 13% year over year to $7.4 billion for the quarter. Originations include more than $3 billion in Chrysler retail loans. Finance receivables grew 17% from the year-ago quarter to $27.3 billion.
