The Basis Peak, which will retail for $199.99 and be available in early November, will have a slew of new and updated features over its predecessors. In addition to better performance and an improved design, the Peak now has a more powerful sensor design for its heart rate engine, which allow for better accuracy and consistency.
Basis Peak will continue to monitor the users' movements, perspiration and skin temperature. It will also include the ability to detect health activities, such as walking, running and biking, and will help users set up tangible goals to improve their health, such as sleeping at the same time each night, getting up from their desk once an hour and other features.
In addition, the Peak will be capable of displaying smartphone notifications, so users can connect to to their iOS or Android phones to show alerts for incoming calls and texts, with notifications expected to expand over time.
"Since our first product, Basis has continued to set a high standard of rich data and insights for both fitness and sleep," said Basis's General Manager Jef Holove said in a press release. "Now with Peak, we've achieved an even higher level of performance and extended functionality, delivering an all-in-one device to help people live healthier day and night, at work or working out."
